Post-pimple
marks and their side-effects (mentally) are very discouraging. Who
doesn't dream of having flawless skin?! But the harsh environment and
its polluting factors result in clogged pores, which lead to pimples and
finally the irksome post-pimple marks. The sun plays its own part in
damaging our skin further by darkening it gradually and gifting us
sun-spots. Ugh!
When dealing with these skin problems, the first step is to invest in a
good-quality cleanser. Soap-free. Hypo-allergenic. These are the two
words to look for in your cleanser description.
Some go looking for acne-controlling ingredients in their cleansers like
Salicylic acid and Benzoyl Peroxide. I suggest you don't!
They do work
on drying out skin thereby drying out the pimples, but they dry your
skin way too much; making your skin react to the sudden stripping of
natural oils of the skin. The result is overproduction of oil that makes your face look like "Ew". Not much
use, is it?
Instead, get a normal cleanser because it anyway works just the same. Cleanse twice a day and you're done!
Below are some home-made masks that would aid in fading out marks and
brightening the complexion. These masks, made from ingredients that are
right in your kitchen can wipe out all sky-high priced skin care
products found in the market. All you need is a little (Okay, a LOT of)
patience.
Honey Clove Mask
A Honey and Clove mask is the most effective mask for pimpled skin. It
helps to fade away imperfection marks with regular alternate-day use.
Clove deeply cleanses the pores and honey give moisture and elasticity.
Use 1 tablespoon of Honey and 1/4 teaspoon of powdered Clove and mix
well. Apply a thin layer all over the blemished area and let it stand
for 20 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Almond Honey Scrub
Almonds Honey Scrub ensures that the skin is free from blockage of dead
skin cells. It clears the skin with regular alternate-day use. The
massaging effect promotes blood circulation and skin renewal. Note: If
you have pus-filled pimples, use this treatment only once a week.
Mix 1 teaspoon powdered or grounded almond with 2 tablespoons of honey.
Mix well and apply to face massaging as gently as possible. Do not scrub
too hard. Wash off with lukewarm water after 5 minutes.
Rose Cream Scrub/Mask
Dried & crushed rose petals are a great remedy for post-pimple marks
and sun spots. Clotted Cream (Malai) provides lots of moisture and the
skin becomes smooth and supple. Use it every alternate day.
Mix 1 teaspoon of crushed rose petals in 2 tablespoons of fresh cream.
Let the petals soak the cream for half an hour. Apply the mixture to
face scrubbing gently for 5 minutes. Then use remaining mixture evenly
over face and neck and let the mask dry. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Nutmeg Cream Scrub
Nutmeg is a great blood purifier. It clears up skin spots, promotes
blood circulation and cleanses clogged pores. Clotted Cream is a natural
moisturizer. Use this scrub twice a week for best results.
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg powder in 1 and half tablespoon of cream.
Apply over face and scrub gently for 5 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm
water.
Whether it is any product from the drugstore or homemade remedies,
neither can give you overnight results. Patience is a good virtue but a
difficult one to come by. Acquire it (I am so trying!).
Do comment below how well these remedies worked for you! They definitely did for me! Good Luck!
