Clarins | Aquatic Treasures Ombre Iridescente Eyeshadow

Clarins Aquatic Treasures Eye shadow - Aquatic Rose, Aquatic Green
Clarins Aquatic Treasures Eye shadow - Aquatic Rose, Aquatic Green
There is just something about a limited edition product that sucks you into buying it. Maybe because it won't be there on the shelves for long. They do sell out rather quickly, but I feel that brands/companies make them so lustfully gorgeous that you just cannot turn away. Stunning packaging and intricate details embossed right onto the product itself... just wow!

Take for example, the newly launched Clarins Aquatic Treasures collection for Summer 2015. Although I did manage to tear my eyes away from their gorgeous bronzer, I couldn't resist picking up a couple of their cream eye shadows because... I just couldn't! I mean, look at that sleek packaging; corresponding to the color inside - so luxe, isn't it? They are called Aquatic Rose and Aquatic Green. Sea-green color is biiig this year for summer, and Clarins has also launched a green colored mascara and an equally mesmerizing jewel-toned eye liner pencil in this line.

Aquatic Rose has the most subtle peachy-rose tint with heaps of silver shimmer that does not look tacky when blended out. I have never seen a more beautiful shimmery rosey champagne shade in my life. Initially I thought it would be too cool for my skin tone but it is neutral once worn. However, I do believe it will look a tad bit better on cooler tones than it does on my warm one. This gives a great wash of color that looks beautiful when worn on its own or even in combination with any other eye shadow!

Aquatic Green, on the other hand, is officially my new favorite green eye shadow ever. It is an intense mermaid-green shade with silver shimmer. It might not be an everyday shade if you are a 'nude/natural/no-makeup makeup' lady but it is a great shade to sizzle up an evening date or on a music festival weekend.

Both shades are moderately pigmented and have a wear time of 7 hours on me. NO creasing at all. The formula is creamy, can be easily sheered out and does not cake either when you layer it on for more intensity. If I had to recommend you a great pinky champagne color for everyday wear, I'd totally urge you to stock up on the Rose shade, its amaaazing!

Priced at KWD 8 each, these are available at all VaVaVoom, Harvey Nichols stores across Kuwait. Limited Edition, mind!

LIEBSTER Award Nomination

Always wondered what all these beauty blogger awards were and now I am nominated for one! This is my first nomination for the "Liebster" Award which generally is a "chain network" that helps you discover new/upcoming blogs. It is a sweet way to share beauty-love, and connect with fellow bloggers who have the same passion as you. In turn, you get some exporsure 'out there' as well which is a good way to gain traffic back to your blog.

Thanks to Arti who blogs over at Diva Beauty Fashion for nominating me, love you for it!

So let's get to answering some questions she's asked me!

1. How did you choose the name of your blog and why ?

I am obsessed with my name (Fayha), its meaning and the unique-ness of it. Also the word 'delicious/yummy' is my go-to for describing almost anything in my life - be it yummy food, a gorgeous lipstick, exotic locations and so on. I think they are all 'Yummy'. So being the beauty and makeup addict that I am, clearly "Fayha-licious" was meant to be the name! Just a simple way to convey the idea that Fayha LOVES so n so product or food or place or anything that tickles her fancy!.

2. If you would have to give one tip to the new bloggers, what would it be?

Try to be consistent with your schedule. Even if you plan on posting just once a week, make sure you actually do! This applies to me first as I slack off a lot. And its not a good approach if blogging is something you plan on really investing your time and money in. As in, if you want to make a business/brand out of it, you might want to be very productive from the very beginning!

3. Which Eyeliner do you prefer- liquid, gel, cake or pencil and which brand and which eyeliner style ?

My absolute favorite is a gel eyeliner, I love love love the intensity of those, they are just so dark! After that it would be a kohl liner in terms of intense pigmentation. I love doing a feline flick or a thick line as I have hooded eyes and only a thick outward line is 'visible' when my eyes are open. My favorite product would be Maybelline Eyestudio Gel eye liner and Lakme Eyeconic Kajal pencil.

4. If in future, you decide to move, will you sell your blog? If yes, then for how much ?

I wouldn't sell my blog for anything. I'd keep it forever, even if I don't blog in future, its staying the way it is.

5. Which is your favorite clothing store ?

For budget buys, MAX Fashions is like my favorite-est. I also LOVE Forever 21, they have some great basics that I like to stock up on. If I want to go a bit high-end, I'd choose Vero Moda, H&M and AX Paris. If I had to go extremely high-end, its going to be Burberry - but that's happening only in my dreams, LOL!

6. Your brands of makeup brushes are ?

My favorite Real Techniques. Also, I'm loving MAC at the moment as I've just invested in some and I'm really, really liking them.

7. How often do you clean your makeup brushes and with what ?

I'd say I get about 4-5 uses out of my brushes before rinsing them thoroughly with a mild shampoo but I do spot-clean them every single time with a makeup remover wipe before I use them.

8. Which do you prefer- Tinted moisturiser, BB cream or Foundation and which brand?

I like BB/CC creams a lot because I'm more of a light coverage girl. I like Bourjois CC Cream, its one of my favorites.

9. One make up essential that you can't live without ?

That would probably be mascara. It makes a huge difference in my eyes. They appear bigger, and the whole overall look is fresh and balanced.

10. What tool you use for your blogging photography- mobile or DSLR and which brand ?

I use my phone (Samsung S5) to do most of my photography, but I also use my Canon Ixus sometimes.

11. What are goals of your blog and how has your life changed being a beauty blogger ?

Life hasn't really changed for me, although I do feel very proud of my little space on the web. I like blogging and more importantly, I love expressing my views, good or bad, on anything I have been using or visiting. Maybe someone, somewhere might benefit from it... someday. Yeah?

That's about it!

Just nominating a few blogs I follow so here goes:

Here is a list of questions I'd love to know about y'all!

1. What was the main motivation to start your own blog?

2. What backgrounds do you use to get your photos right for the blog? Do you go all in and do macro shots or dress up a gorgeous flatlay?
3. Have you attended PR/blogger events? If so, how does it feel to connect with fellow bloggers and brands?
4. What is your favorite beauty product? Let's make it the 'top three' favorites.
5. Have you approached a brand/company you would like to collaborate with for your blog? Share some tips for fellow newbies that strike a chord between you and the agency.
6. Who is your favorite beauty blogger idol and why?
7. Lastly, how do you feel about joining the blogging community and what are your goals with respect to your blog, its productivity for the future.

Hope to see some interesting answers!

Bourjois | Refresh Me Shower Gel

Bourjois Refresh Me Hydra-Fresh Shower Gel

Bourjois Refresh Me Hydra-Fresh Shower Gel

Bourjois Refresh Me Hydra-Fresh Shower Gel
I've got a mini review today and this time its not makeup. A few months ago Bourjois launched its skincare/bodycare/fragrance range in the Middle East. Whilst browsing it, I mostly found very girly scents - sweet, ultra-feminine and NOT my type. This jewel was hidden among its many shelves, the "Refresh Me" shower gel. The cyan-fuchsia bottle with a golden ball lid packaging was fun and quirky so I immediately picked it up.

Bourjois describes it as "Aquatic Fragrance Blue Lagoon Flowers"; I have never smelt blue lagoon flowers before so I don't know but I do like the floral scent. Aquatic? Yes. Its a fresh, light fragrance - the kind that you'd experience on a beach day-out in summer. To be honest, it is slightly less girly and more unisex, so that's my reason for loving it, LOL.

The gel is transparent blue and foams up very well. With my Soap & Glory scrub gloves, I get a quick clean rinse when I don't want to put it an extra effort. Although I'd like it to have been SLS free - its not. It does make up a bit by being paraben free at least. For the price, it is a fantastic every day wash shower gel at KWD 1.250. Available in Boots.

Bourjois | Color Edition 24Hr Eyeshadow - Prune Nocturne

With cream eye shadows, you almost always can't go wrong. They are easy to buff into the skin and can be worn as sheer or as stark as you'd like. One of my all time favorites is Prune Nocturne by Bourjois' Color Edition 24Hr range because it is the perfect base for all my dark/smokey eye looks.

The color itself isn't a stark royal purple; it has a mix of red in it, making it more burgundy with a metallic sheen and some chunky glitter thrown in. It has sturdy plastic pot packaging, is creamy in texture and dries to a powdery finish. Very easy to use with only the fingertips as well. Also, it does NOT crease, and I can vouch for this as I have hooded eyes with a barely visible crease and my eyelids are quite oily so whatever little color I put onto it creases by the end of the day. I cannot comment on their "24Hr" claim but yes, hitting a 5-7 hour mark without creasing is great, in my opinion.

The eye shadow isn't supremely pigmented though. By this, I don't mean to imply I hate the product. On the contrary, like I mentioned earlier, this makes it easy for me to wear the color as light or as dark as I want. In the above swatch, I must have done about 5-7 swipes to get that intense color and notice how the glitter does not look tacky as well. This shade is my go-to base for when I'm trying out any dark black/brown smokey eye looks as all the other colors hold very well on top of it. What I love about it is that it looks equally good if worn on its own, and if you're super good at blending, this alone can make for a very subtle purple smokey eye.

I love the texture and ease of use of the eye shadow (particularly the creamy champagne "petal de glace" shade!) and would love to see more colors introduced in the range, especially with matte finishes as all the current ones are packed with shimmer.

DIY | Skin Oil for Dehydrated Skin ft. Soulflower, Aroma Treasures

Although oils were considered sticky, messy and smelly for over many years, the beauty industry is finally realizing its potential at healing all problems related to skin, hair and body. Always a fan of Aromatherapy, I'm usually making my own concoctions based on the different benefits of various essential and carrier oils, mixing and matching until I get a solution that works just right for me.

Today I am sharing my recipe for a skin oil that I use regularly to deeply hydrate and moisturize my body. I use this once or twice every week, an hour or so before bath and my skin is usually soft and supple for the whole week. If you suffer from skin that is normal to dry and excessively dehydrated (flaky, rough) and want to try something 100% natural, give this a try.

You'll need (from any brand of your choice)**:

100ml cold-pressed Olive oil or Grapefruit oil (Buy here)
15 ml Evening Primrose carrier oil (Buy here)
10 drops Lavender essential oil (Buy here)
10 drops Tea tree essential oil (Buy here)
10 drops Chamomile German essential oil (Buy here)

Mix all of these together and shake for couple of seconds each time before you use. Olive Oil and Evening Primrose are especially suited for dry, cracked skin as they improve skin elasticity. Lavender is a great skin healer and also relaxes the body so when you are massaging yourself with the oil, it renders a calming effect. Tea tree combats any body acne and acts as an antiseptic. Chamomile is yet another oil with countless soothing properties but is especially great to soothe inflammation and heal minor burns/cuts/rashes.

I have noticed my skin getting less dry over time and much more softer. And to know I am getting these benefits in their purest form possible with no extra chemicals is seriously AH-MAZING! I am not opposed to market-bought body lotions or oils, it is just that when I can whip up a blend of oil that is equally efficient and with a lot less money, then why not? I still use my basic BBW lotions but this personal DIY oil is definitely on another level for me to get that intense moisturization.

What are your favorite types of body products - oils, lotions or butters? Do you use DIY body lotions/oils? Are you a fan of aromatherapy? Do give this a try and let me know your experience.

** Links to my favorite brands' are mentioned next to the oils in the recipe above.

Maybelline | Color Show Lipsticks

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick - Burgundy Blend & Cream Caramel

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick - Burgundy Blend & Cream Caramel
I didn't think the Color Show lipsticks launched in India were anything different so I steered clear of them. Almost. Two lipsticks later, I have to change my mind. Not that they have anything new to boast about, the original Color Sensationals & Vivids are still my favorite, but these lippies are one of the best budget buys that deliver what they promise.

To start with the colors, I bought me some deep red by the name of Burgundy Blend. According to me, this shade should be aptly called "Burnt Red" maybe. It is dark that it almost passes off as wine but still has a lot of red in it. And the best part, NO shimmer. I love that it is sort of a vampy-ish red and I have always tried crimson, brighter reds so this is a first for me. The texture is creamy, I'm almost convinced it will melt if let out in the sun for too long. This color is a good choice for the transition from Fall to Winter. But I guess it will look equally good in summer if worn correctly.

The next shade I picked up is Cream Caramel which is a slightly burnt out orange. It is not the bold orange that glares 'in your face' but a much subtler version. Although it is a wearable shade, I'd still keep my eye makeup low-key. There is no "caramel" in the shade, however a slight shimmer is barely visible in this one. Great for office wear, IMO.

Both lip colors excel in being creamy and extremely comfortable to wear. They have intense pigmentation and are true to the bullet. They do transfer, however and their lasting power is an average 2 hours max. Other than that, they are a budget freak's dream come true. At INR 299 apiece, you can easily find your favorites from among its 21 different shades.

NYX | Powder Blush - Espresso

NYX happens to be one of my favorite drugstore brands, my first ever purchase being their Cream blush in 'Natural', a gorgeous light peachy pink shade that gave a natural (obvs) glow to the cheeks. But today's star is this sweetheart of a blush by the name 'Espresso' from their powder blush range. The color is a mid-tone pink with quite visible brown tones. I've never had such a shade before which is why I was eager to get one. And boy, am I glad to have bought this

The texture is smooth, easy to blend and has very little fall-out. It is matte and translates exactly as is on to the skin. I love it that it isn't too brown nor very rosy, so it can work as a blush or even as a light contour depending on your skin tone. For me, it is super flattering also because I have warm undertones. But I believe the color is such that it will work well even on paler skin tones, especially if you've recently got a bit of a tan.

As with all drugstore blushes, the lasting power isn't that fab though. It is a good blush for everyday use, like wearing it to office and outings but I wouldn't really recommend it for any special occasion (definitely not for weddings) only because it won't last that long. Since it is matte, a bit of a highlighter works beautifully on top of this, especially Watt's Up by Benefit. Another con (?) perhaps, would be that is isn't supremely pigmented but I usually like having my blushes that way because then I can build it up according to my liking. I don't like to have intense blushes that need excess tapping-off to avoid looking like a clown. (In the picture above, that's two swipes on the left, and one swipe blended out on the right - just to get an idea on how sheer or dark you can go with this shade!)

I am more than satisfied with the quality, quantity and textures of these blushes and would highly recommend adding a few to your collection. My personal recommendation would be 'Peach' and 'Pinched'. Of course, Espresso as well. They're so worth it (L'Oreal tagline?).

Summer Lip Favorites

Summer is hereee. Let's rock 'em colorful lips! Below are my top 5 picks for lips that I am currently loving this summer. I have skipped normal lipsticks and rather opted for the liquid ones as they're super hydrating and light.

First up we have my all time favorite - the Rimmel Apocalips range, of which Nova is pictured here. These liquid lipsticks are moisturizing with great pigmentation. No waxy/ dry feeling at all so these make for a very chic glossy lip that's packed with intense color. Read full review here

Next is my current favorite, the newly launched Aqua Laque range from Bourjois. I have sung praises for these in my review here as these are great for packing on a punch of color whilst still being ultra hydrating. The 'aqua' effect gives the look of lush lips which I love.

This Lord & Berry addition might not be an everyday staple but I do like its slightly orangey-golden shimmery tone when I want to give some extra dimension to the lips. This fares very well when layered on top of any lipstick color. It may look like a glitterball in the tube but is actually quite subtle when applied. The best part of all: it is not sticky at all like most glosses are. The shade featured here is in Apricot from their Ultimate gloss range.

Up next, we have everyone's favorite Benetint that deserves to be featured all year long. Although I am more biased towards Cha Cha Tint, I do love how Benetint gives that gorgeous rosy tint to the lips that looks extremely natural. And of course, it is great for rouging the cheeks as well for a healthy glow.

Last and definitely not the least, a lip-balm is a must-have in any makeup bag and here's one that also gives a hint of color whilst being moisturizing - the Baby Lips balm by Maybelline. These stay put for at least an hour or two and repair chapped lips making them soft and supple. Berry Bomb from the Electro range is pictured above.

What are your must-haves in terms of lip products? Are any of these in your makeup bag as well?
